Child Development

The objective of this course is to examine children from birth to eight years of age through their biological-physical, social, cultural, emotional, cognitive and language domains and developmental milestones including risk factors, delays or disabilities that indicate the need for special services; current theories; ongoing research and interrelationships across developmental areas; and the adult’s role in supporting each child’s development and learning. This course includes a supervised internship at a child care center or school site where the student is given the opportunity to use the theoretical and practical concepts learned in the class.
